ECC celebrates Veterans Day 2016

The lobby of Kruse Main was nearly full today as students, staff, community members and guests joined Ellsworth Community College in celebrating Veterans Day 2016. Guest speaker Sgt. 1st Class Eric Ramirez, spoke about the history and current involvements of the U.S. military, the many sacrifices made by service members and their families, and the crucial role the U.S. military plays in preserving the freedoms enjoyed by all U.S. citizens.

ECC faculty, staff and students gathered to honor the late Greg Hodak, a business faculty member and former member of the United States Marines Corp, with a bench dedication. Family, faculty and staff wore bandanas in honor of Hodak, who passed away in June. In addition to the bench dedication, ECC has started the Greg Hodak Endowed Scholarship fund for Veterans. For more information about the scholarship, contact the ECC Foundation at 641-648-4611 or eccalum@iavalley.sites.flyinghippo.com.
