ECC Osgood Library Hosts Read Across America

Ellsworth Community College Osgood Library in conjunction with Iowa Falls Community Chest, Iowa Falls/Alden School Libraries, Dr. Grace O. Doane Public Library, Barlow Memorial Library, Hy-Vee and Green Belt Bank and Trust are sponsoring a Read Across America event Saturday, March 4th from 9 to 11 am. Students from area schools received a reading log allowing them to keep track of the amount of time they read each day for a week.

On Saturday March 4th, children and their families are invited to come and eat breakfast at the Iowa Falls Hy-Vee. The breakfast will be $2.99 each and will include green eggs and ham, toast and juice. Each child that comes to Hy-Vee from 9-11 will receive a free book donated Iowa Falls Community Chest. If they bring the completed reading log to Hy-Vee, they will receive an additional book. There will also be local ‘celebrities’ reading to the children.

“This is a great community outreach event to encourage children to read,” said Sandra Greufe, Library Service Manager at ECC. “We would like to say, ‘Thank you’ to the Iowa Falls Community Chest and Hy-Vee for their support. The program would not be successful without their support.”
