ECC’s Commencement is Friday, May 6

The public is invited to Ellsworth Community College’s commencement ceremony on Friday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at the Martin Ellsworth Dittmer Gymnasium on the Ellsworth Community College campus, 1100 College Ave. The ECC Class of 2016 includes 236 applicants for graduation, some of whom completed their coursework in December 2015, most of whom are completing coursework this spring, and a few others who may complete their coursework this summer.

The commencement program begins with the presentation of colors by American Legion Hyman Peavey Post 188 Color Guard followed by the National Anthem sung by ECC freshmen Katie Staff of Iowa Falls. Following a welcome by ECC Provost Dr. Martin Reimer, special music, Our Alma Mater, will be presented by ECC’s Choir. The Commencement Address will be given by graduate Johannes Ben Kockert of Wittichenau, Germany.

Representing the Ellsworth College Board of Trustees, Darwin Miller will present an Honorary Doctorate degree to John Dolan. Awards will then be presented to Panther Service Award recipients Becca Dunahoo of Zearing and Kaleigh Greufe of Blairsburg, All-Iowa Academic Team members Kaleigh Greufe and Jonathan Luiken of Webster City, as well as other scholastic award honorees. Degrees and diplomas will then be conferred.

A reception honoring all graduates and honorees, relatives and friends will be held in the Dale Howard Family Activity Center immediately following the ceremony. The Dale Howard Family Activity Center will be closed for membership activities from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on May 6.
