Agriculture program receives prestigious IAAE award

Outstanding Postsecondary Ag Program Award

Kevin Butt and Eric Weuve accepted the IAAE 2016 Outstanding Post-Secondary Ag Program Award.

The Ellsworth Community College agriculture program faculty accepted the IAAE Outstanding Post-Secondary Program Award at this year’s annual conference of the Iowa Association of Agricultural Educators in Ankeny. Kevin Butt and Eric Weuve accepted the award on behalf of the College; ECC Provost Dr. Martin Reimer, ECC Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Lisa Stock, and IVCCD Chancellor Dr. Chris Duree were also in attendance.

It was noted during the presentation that Ellsworth Community College has 11 cutting-edge agricultural programs that meet the needs of both today’s employers and of the larger ag-related community. The ECC agriculture department faculty spends a significant amount of time reaching out to high school youths with its Mobile Precision Agriculture Lab, providing high-tech, high-touch experiences that might not be available in the high schools while also raising awareness of and interest in agriculture-related careers.

In the same ceremony, IAAE presented Dr. Chris Duree with its Outstanding School Administrator Award; Dr. Duree was nominated for the award by Butt and Weuve. During his introduction of Dr. Duree, Butt told the IAAE membership about Dr. Duree’s personal and professional support of him and of the ECC agriculture programs over the years.
