ECC Precision Ag partners with Clark College

A letter of support from Ellsworth Community College Agriculture Professor Kevin Butt contributed to a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant that has been awarded to Clark State Community College in Ohio. The $400,000 NSF grant will enable Clark State to be appointed a hub for Precision Agriculture education in Ohio, and Clark State faculty will work with Ellsworth Community College faculty in developing their new Precision Agriculture curriculum.
“I’ve been visiting and working with Dr. Larry Everett, Clark State Precision Agriculture Professor, for several years,” says Professor Butt. “This grant will enable their new Ohio Center for Precision Agriculture to serve as a clearinghouse of information for the entire state of Ohio, serving hundreds of individuals and businesses involved in precision agriculture.”
Dr. Martin Reimer, ECC Provost, says this kind of collaboration is typical of the ECC Agriculture Department. “ECC established its Precision Agriculture program back in 2012, and Kevin has been a strong advocate and supporter for other colleges and universities across the country involved with Precision Agriculture. I’m sure the collaboration with Clark College will not only benefit Clark, but also Ellsworth Community College and our Precision Agriculture students. Kevin’s position as a national leader in the field of Precision Ag puts him in frequent contact with other leaders across the country, and that will lead to even more opportunities for our faculty and students as the Precision Ag industry continues to expand and evolve.”
